FOR THE ADVENTURER THAT LIKES IT

Red Peak Pass

Guided Just Roughin' It backpacking tours in Yosemite for the more experienced hiker or backpacker. Hiking Yosemite's Clark Range and Red Peak Pass with Just Roughin' It has a higher difficulty level than some of the other guided hikes in Yosemite due to remote camping and high trail elevation. "On and on you will hike and I know you'll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are." - Dr. Seuss

Yosemite: Red Peak Pass Backpacking Tour

Just Roughin' It's Yosemite backpacking trips are perfect for the adventurer looking for classic High Sierra views and alpine lakes with more solitude.  The Red Peak Pass tour will have you gaining elevation as you make your way up to the Merced River Canyon to this pass which crosses the high  peaks of the Clark Range in Yosemite. This area is rarely visited Yosemite hiking trail due to its rugged terrain, but your efforts will be rewarded with pristine alpine lakes and above tree-line landscapes that allow for open star-gazing at night.

On the way to Red Peak Pass, you may hike through Little Yosemite Valley, by Half Dome, Nevada and Vernal Falls. Or, we can start from a less popular trail head and trek through meadows away from the crowds before making our way to the Clark Range and the almost 11,000 foot elevation of Red Peak Pass. .  Camp will change every night as you move through the area to the highest trail elevation in all of Yosemite National Park via this 51 mile loop. You will camp at Moraine Dome, Washburn Lake, and Ottoway Lake, to name just a few of the many beautiful destinations.

My Red Peak Pass trip was the second trip I've taken with Just Roughin' It. I HIGHLY recommend both this trip and this company.

The trail is beautiful - absolutely a must-see. You get everything from gorgeous mountain ranges to lakes surrounded by sand in canyons. But more importantly is how Just Roughin' It handles these trips. All food and gear are provided, so it's perfect for people who are either new to camping or live far away and don't want to transport their gear. The food is much better than you'd expect, and they even provide coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the morning. The gear is also really high quality.

The guides are amazing. I had Joe as a guide, who made me feel safe, gave us space to take pictures and enjoy the surroundings, was full of information on anything I wanted to know (he spent the 6 days patiently answering my endless questions about navigation, camping gear, water purification, wildlife, etc), and was just generally great company.

Amazing trip. Amazing company. Definitely take a trip with Just Roughin' It if you get the chance!
