Tucson/Southern Arizona
"Up in the canyon, away from the river, show him a real good time. - Meat Puppets"
The Tucson area has some of Arizona's most pristine desert backdrops, including the world's highest concentration of saguaro cacti. Yet you'll find much more than desert here - the "Old Pueblo" is full of diversity from evergreen forests atop Mount Lemmon to the streams of Aravaipa Canyon.
We can take you through any of the Tucson area's many mountain ranges, collectively called the Sky Islands. A popular choice is Mount Lemmon, which stands higher than 9,000 feet. It is the focal point of the Santa Catalina Mountains, or Catalinas. This is one of the most well-known mountain ranges in Southern Arizona. It provides a retreat from the heat in the summer and year-round hiking in the popular Sabino Canyon, which combines the best of desert and wooded areas - and is even scattered with waterfalls. We have access to dozens of miles of trails throughout the Catalinas that would satisfy the hiking hunger for any outdoorsman or outdoorswoman. We also provide guided tours throughout Aravaipa Canyon, about 50 air miles northeast of Tucson. A permit is required to visit this region - and we're one of the few guide services that have access. Use of the canyon (19,410 acres) is limited to just 50 people a day, and there are no designated trails, so you'll get a true primitive experience in wilderness that's had little human touch. Here you'll find clear rivers and streams, a mixed forest and stunning wildlife.
