Finding the Grand Canyon is not an issue for our guides, they know where it is! In fact, we have extensive knowledge of some of the most beautiful places in the Southwest. We know of the touristy hotspots as well as secluded backcountry areas you won't find in any guidebook. So expect to have an awesome adventure - and know that we have your safety in mind at all times. All of our guides have:
At least 80 hours of Wilderness First Responder of equivalent (this means we are trained to handle all kinds of emergencies in remote settings)
First aid and CPR training
Food Handlers Certified

Other relevant experience: Leading friends on bushwacks in the Catskill Mountains of NY. Other than that I am a corporate refugee with years of customer service and management experience. I was also a corporate trainer.
Favorite hike/backpacking adventure: Hermit Canyon in Grand Canyon, there are many historic sites and other cool out of the way places to explore.
I became a guide because: I always wanted to make a living doing something I love.
First concert: The Ramones in 1980
While indoors, I spend my time: On the computer ruining my eyes, reading books, or playing guitar
The one thing in life I cannot live without: Coffee, I get a headache by noon if I don't get my fix
Piece of gear I cannot live without: French Press (of course!)
If I were a rock star, I'd be: Jimi Hendrix although Jimmy Page would be really cool as well

Favorite hike/backpacking adventure: Solo hike of the length of Wyoming's Wind River Mountains in 1993
First concert: As I am older than dirt it's hard to remember. I think it might have been a John Denver concert.
Favorite food: Blue corn, green chilli enchiladas
Best accomplishment: 10 years in social services serving the homeless
If my life were a movie, it would be called: All Who Wander Are Not Lost

Best memory: My first backpacking trip when I was 10 years old with my Dad and my best friend and his father, in the Pecos Wilderness of Northern New Mexico

Favorite hike/backpacking adventure: Grand Canyon Rim to Rim-do it at least once a year.

Years of hiking/backing experience: Hiked since I was 5 years old and have been backpacking regularly for more than 10 years
Favorite hike/backpacking adventure: One was my first solo backpack which also happened to be my first time to the Grand Canyon (down S. Kaibab to Bright Angel Campground, next up to Indian Garden, then west on the Tonto, and finally out at Hermit's Rest). Another was the 6-day expedition on Mt. Rainier, living on the mountain, learning mountaineering skills, and summitting the 14er.

Piece of gear I cannot live without: A pillow! Love a little camping pillow.
Favorite food: Fruit - fresh, dried, stewed, mushed, minced...
Pet peeve: Loud noises
If I were a rock star, I'd be: Deaf!
Lifetime goal: Never be bound by golden handcuffs
Biggest fear: That one day there will no longer be large wilderness areas for animals and plants to live and people to rejuvenate.
