Sol Duc
"If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." - Lewis Carroll Olympic: Sol Duc
The 7 Lakes region of Olympic National Park, also known as the High Divide Loop, is one of the most popular hiking trails in Olympic National Park. This hike has you hiking along the ridge of the alpine divide of the Hoh River, with amazing views of Mount Olympus and taking you past several spectacular lakes and Sol Duc Falls. This 18 mile hike will have you ascending over 4,000 feet with the potential to take it off the beaten path to Cat Peak for excellent views of the open meadows, Mount Olympus and the lesser peaks surrounding it. There is much to see and explore in this area, so the longer the Olympic National Park vacation the better! Plus, summer only brings on average 3.33 inches of rain per month in the area (just a bit more than you will encounter in Grand Canyon over the summer).
