Hit the Trail is dedicated to helping those planning a trip to Grand Canyon and the southwestern United States. It provides information to assist in finding rooms and campgrounds, making reservations, choosing hiking equipment, finding guides and tourist services, as well as providing practical tips and advice to help make your trip a special one.
Kaibab Lodge is in the heart of the North Kaibab National Forest, five miles from the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim. Built in the 1920s, the lodge is said to have once been a cattle ranch. At 8,770 feet above sea level, the lodge area is cool when the surrounding desert is hot. It is open from mid-May when the Grand Canyon North Rim Parkway (Arizona State Route 67) opens through November 2. Full services are available at the North Rim Country Store.
